Aims and Objectives of Friends of Menacuddle Charity No: 

For the public benefit in Menacuddle Valley:

  • To develop an inclusive community resource promoting appreciation and preservation of the heritage site for current and future generations 

  • To restore and conserve the Grade II* Listed Baptistery and other historical remains

  • To recreate and enhance the original Victorian ornamental garden 

  • To regenerate and maintain the natural environment and encourage biodiversity

  • To educate and inform on the historical, spiritual and ecological importance of the area

  • To promote health and wellbeing by encouraging exercise and relaxation in a tranquil riverside location

In particular, but not exclusively, by:

  1. Consulting with conservation experts and carrying out remedial works to the Baptistery as advised

  2. Clearing invasive vegetation, appropriate replanting, and improving access paths

  3. Providing information leaflets and boards 

  4. Arranging cultural activities on the site

  5. Liaising with local organisations which have similar community or environmental objectives

 

1. The preservation and conservation of the Grade II* Listed Baptistery and other historical remains associated with the Baptistery in Menacuddle Valley for the benefit of the public. 

2. The advancement of education of the public about the history of the Baptistery and the ecological importance of the surrounding area. 

3. To provide or assist in the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life of the public by the conservation, enhancement and maintenance of the original Victorian ornamental garden in Menacuddle Valley.
